Hudayriyat Island, 22 February 2021 – Good morning from Stage 2, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council Stage, of the third edition of the UAE Tour (21-27 February 2021), the one and only WorldTour race in the Middle East. The second stage features a 13km individual time trial that takes place entirely on the island of Hudayriyat.
Matthieu Ladagnous (Groupama – FDJ), was the first rider to start at 13.45.

An individual time trial that takes place entirely on the island of Hudayriyat along a very fast route characterized by wide, sweeping bends. The road is perfectly flat and wide, with gentle curves that will allow the riders to maintain a fast pace throughout (wind permitting).

AL HUDAYRIYAT ISLAND – 0 KM TO FINISH THE LINE
The project was launched and officially inaugurated by Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan in May 2018. Among the attractions are a 600-metre beach, running and cycling tracks, water sports facilities, a bouncy castle and a children’s playground. Al Hudayriat Island is part of a new city development that will include housing for Emiratis, and commercial attractions.
As the perfect place to exercise, have fun, and meet new people, Hudayriyat Leisure and Entertainment District’s modern facilities and outdoor attractions make it the perfect destination for friends and families.
Those looking for the best cycling tracks in Abu Dhabi love to visit Al Hudayriyat Island. The bridge features two loops of cycling tracks — one which is 5 km long and the other stretching up to 10 km. Ride your bike and marvel at the scenic sea views along the way. The cycling track is also well-lit at night to accommodate cyclists who prefer a late start. Additionally, the dedicated bike track also allows cyclists to take in the magnificent views of the Etihad Towers, Downtown skyline and the Arabian Gulf.
Most professional cyclists and enthusiasts bring their own bikes. However, visitors can also get in on the action by renting bikes and helmets from Yas Cycles which has a branch on Al Hudayriat Island.
AL BATEEN BEACH – 0 KM TO FINISH THE LINE
This stunning beach overlooks Hudayriat Island and its bridge to the west of Abu Dhabi, and enjoys clear, tranquil water ideal for fishing, swimming and waterfront picnics.
Awarded the prestigious Blue Flag sustainability award by the Emirates Wild- life Authority, the beach covers 800 metres of picturesque waterfront and is perfect to play beach volleyball or indulge in watersports activities including kayaking, paddling and more from the beach’s watersports centre.
This spot is popular with both expats and locals thanks to its family-friendly vibe and many watersports offerings. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, you can hire jet-skis to get out on the water. There are also a handful of cafés, around 100 car-parking spaces and plenty of lifeguards on duty.
QASR AL WATTAN -0 KM TO FINISH THE LINE

One of the palace’s most impressive and unmissable attractions is the family-friendly Palace In Motion event, a spectacular light and sound show that celebrates the UAE’s journey in three breath-taking acts that unfold in front of the main palace every 30 minutes after sundown, with the final entry taken 30 minutes before showtime. ABU DHABI CORNICHE – 0 KM TO FINISH THE LINE
Abu Dhabi’s Corniche Road stretches across an impressive eight kilometres of manicured waterfront that includes children’s play areas, separate cycle and pedestrian pathways, cafés and restaurants, and the stunning, lifeguard- ed Corniche Beach. If you’re looking to soak up Abu Dhabi’s famous year- round sunshine, this immaculate beach is one of the best places to do it. Some 30,000 to 50,000 visitors flock to the Corniche every month, with the 2km beach being divided into three sections: Al Sahil (Gate 4, free entry) is perfect for singles and larger groups, Gate 2 is ideal for families and has its own quiet zone, with Gate 3 also being great for families and kids. The two latter beaches are shielded from view with a fence. Showers, changing rooms and cabanas are available, and sun loungers and umbrellas can be hired for a fee. A lifeguard is on duty until sunset.
Abu Dhabi’s pristine Corniche beachfront has been awarded coveted Blue Flag status, with this internationally renowned eco-label for beaches and ma- rinas guaranteeing clean and safe seawater.
There are more than 1,100 free parking spaces within a five-minute walk of the beach, with entry to the family and singles sections costing AED 10. Entry to the public beach is free.
A fun and healthy way to tour the Corniche is to hire a bicycle.
ADNOC HQ – 0 KM TO FINISH THE LINE
The ADNOC HQ is hosted in a 75-storey skyscraper on the Abu Dhabi Cornice. The building corporates energy efficiency and sustainable engineering technologies, such as a double skin façade, photovoltaic glazing and LED exterior lighting. Designed by HOK, the overall building complex consists of more than 65 floors with an office tower, Corniche Club, SPC and Crisis Management Center, a heritage museum and other supporting facilities.
