Good Morning from Stage 7 of the UAE Tour

This final stage – the Yas Island Stage – will crown the winner of the third edition of the UAE Tour. The post-stage press conference will be live-streamed on
the UAE Tour’s YouTube channel.

Yas Mall (Abu Dhabi), 27 February 2021 – Good morning from Stage 7, the Yas Island Stage, of the third edition of the UAE Tour (21-27 February 2021), the one and only WorldTour race in the Middle East. The seventh and last stage, 147km long, takes place around the city of Abu Dhabi, departing from Yas Island (Yas Mall) and finishing at the Abu Dhabi Breakwater for the last sprint finish of the UAE Tour.

The peloton, 127 riders strong, passed km 0 at 13:05.

Thanks to Velon’s rider data system, TV viewers and online users can see the riders’ wattage, speed and cadence. The complete list of riders carrying Velon devices and onboard cameras on today’s stage is available here.

THE ROUTE

A stage around the city of Abu Dhabi, Stage 7 departs from Yas Island (Yas Mall) and heads towards the city centre via the Al Raha area, passing close by the Grand Mosque. The route then leads to the Khalifa City area and travels north to Khalifa Port and Yas Marina, followed by Saadiyat Island. The race will visit Abu Dhabi’s Louvre and follow the Corniche waterfront before its arrival at the Abu Dhabi Breakwater for the last sprint finish of the tour. Two intermediate sprints at km 42.6 (Golf Gardens) and km 130.7 (Louvre Abu Dhabi).

The last 5km are entirely on wide roads with gentle curves that lead to the finishing straight on asphalt.

LOUVRE ABU DHABI – 16 KM TO FINISH LINE

Today it stands as the nation’s living memorial and a narrator of Abu Dhabi’s history. The oldest standing structure in Abu Dhabi, the picturesque Qasr Al Hosn is home to an original watchtower that makes for incredible photographs. Built around the 1790s, this commanding structure overlooked the coastal trade routes and protected the growing settlement established on the island.

ABU DHABI CORNICHE – 6 KM TO FINISH LINE
Abu Dhabi’s Corniche Road stretches across an impressive eight kilometres of manicured waterfront that includes children’s play areas, separate cycle and pedestrian pathways, cafés and restaurants, and the stunning, lifeguarded Corniche Beach. If you’re looking to soak up Abu Dhabi’s famous year-round sunshine, this immaculate beach is one of the best places to do it.

ADNOC HQ – 1 KM TO FINISH LINE
The ADNOC HQ is hosted in a 75-storey skyscraper on the Abu Dhabi Cornice. The building corporates energy efficiency and sustainable engineering technologies, such as a double skin façade, photovoltaic glazing and LED exterior lighting. Designed by HOK, the overall building complex consists of more than 65 floors with an office tower, Corniche Club, SPC and Crisis Management Center, a heritage museum and other supporting facilities.

ETIHAD TOWERS – 1 KM TO FINISH LINE
A dramatic architectural statement on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, this five-tower complex welcomes residents and travellers to live, work, stay, shop and dine in one destination boasting stunning panoramic city and Arabian Gulf views.
